Hidden Common Ground 2020 Initiative

Are we a hopelessly divided America? I think not. I am proud to be on the board of Public Agenda, a non-partisan research and public engagement organization, and involved in their Public Agenda/USA TODAY/Ipsos #hiddencommonground™ (HCG) initiative. HGC challenges this increasingly dominant “hopelessly divided America” narrative. By identifying and elevating areas where Americans agree on solutions to politically-polarized issues and by fostering productive dialogue on areas where we truly disagree. Finding common ground is so important. Throughout the presidential election season HCG 2020 will involve public opinion research on tough issues, such as climate change, healthcare, jobs, gun rights/violence, and immigration. Use surveys, on-line discussions, and community-based dialogues and events. This research will also get at whether people feel held back from working with each other in general.
